so if he asks again then mention what you want if not then be surprised and you can get what you truly want for an anniversary…i agree with you on the moissanite too, i picked a white gold antique looking engagement/wedding band set that was moissanite and i get soooo many compliments…if he had purchased what we could afford in diamonds i probably would have been laughed at…lol so tell him that and don’t sweat all the lil details best wishes

Personally, when letting a man know what you want there’s no such thing as being too obvious. Hell, when letting ANYONE know what you really want you can’t be too obvious, otherwise how do you expect to get what you want?

I agree with the other folks. Just say “I’ve been thinking about it, and this is what I want.” Simple, straightforward. Men appreciate that.

You can, however say something like, Honey, you remember when you asked me what kind of rings I like and I drew a blank… well, I saw this online the other day (show him an article you printed out) and I though something like it would be truly grand…”

That’s about it.

But you cannot be surprised and get precisely the ring you want – so make a choice…

Suggest talking to him and say remember when you asked what kind of diamond I would like? Well I thought about it and I really don’t know! Can we go to a jewelery store and look at rings sometime to get an idea of what I would want? Then after you get there and decide what settings you like and what shapes. Say to him that you would really like something larger but don’t want to spend ridiculous amounts of money and suggest you know I think I would like a moissanite ring and I like these shapes and I think I want around this size.

Let him find pictures of rings you’ve drawn so he’ll know what shape ring you prefer.

Buy catalogs or magazines (Bride’s magazine, catalogs from Sam’s Club, etc) and draw big X’s through designs you DON’T want, that way he’ll see a pattern of what you don’t prefer. That leaves it open for him to surprise you. Let him find these (leave them on the table at your house where he can see them while you’re in the bathroom).

you should definetely let him surprise you. give him hints if you want to but let him decide which one his future wive deserves.

Start this out with honesty. Print off an example of what you like and just show it to him. Tell him, “you know the other day when you asked me what kind of ring I liked? “well, I was a bit shocked and surprised by the question and I drew a blank, but now I know what I like”. At least this way, you’ll get close to your dream ring, if not spot on! Best of Luck

I would walk into jewelery stores or the jewelry counter in stores and look at diamonds. I know my fiance kidded around about marriage and kids for a while before he actually bought the ring and then it was months before he popped the question. So don’t think it’s something that is happening right away b/c he is joking about it and bringing it up.

My future-MIL has introduced me to people as her future-DIL way before the proposal but it was way before the proposal. Just take it in stride for now and causally bring it up.

Once again if you guys are out, mention/suggest dropping by a jewelery store. If you are looking at newspaper ads and see a ring you like on sale, just talk about what a nice cut it is and price. That way he’ll know what you like and in what price range.

But honestly, why not just tell him. You can do it in a jokingly manner.

Tell him, while your discussing those plans for the weding kids ect…. him about the dream ring youve always wanted….. Also tell your close girlsfreinds and or sister about it as he may enlist thier help in picking a ring. Good luck!
