moissanite band

You asked, so I'm gonna answer - I think moissanite is UGLY! It has a yellow/green/gray tint to it which is not attractive. There are retailers out there who will say its colorless, but it isn't. Truly. I'd rather have a nice colored stone... even a cheap colored stone over moissanite.

Another thing - 99.9% of moissanite IS synthetic, aka FAKE! Moissanite that is mined naturally is extremely rare. Given that it has a green/gray/yellow tint, no one is going to confuse a moissanite with a real diamond. You'd be better off with a 1 carat CZ, which can actually fool people. Or get a white sapphire. Or a diamond! Good deals for diamonds can be found. Look at or BlueNile. Go low in color to I, J, or K and get an ideal cut SI2 diamond and it will be so much prettier than any moissanite out there.

Yes, moissanite has a higher refractive index than diamond, but that's about all that stone has going for it. It would be my very last choice for an engagement stone.

moissanite blacelets

I've heard some say that moissanite and CZ's can be kept a secret between the couple and the jeweler.

Why does anything have to be kept a secret? If the couple loves the ring and that's what they can afford, then I say more power to them.

The other thing is, if it is being kept a secret because you want people to think that it's a diamond, then I would recommend getting a diamond. Get the real thing.

No one will believe that a person on a budget can afford a 2 ct diamond. Trying to pass off a 2ct moissanite as a dimaond isn't going to fool anyone.

Now if a person on a budget gets a real 0.25 ct diamond it's more believable. If it's a 0.25 ct moissanite, fewer people are going to suspect that it's not a diamond.

And this talk about moissanite out sparkling a diamond. If the diamond is perfectly cut to AGS 000 standard, there's no way that's going to happen. But if it's a poorly cut diamond, heck a piece of broken glass on the street is going to outshine a diamond.

Ok here is the thing. Most of the population gets a diamond ring for their engagement ring. Diamonds are so over done! I have a moissanite ring and I love it. Not everyone has a moissanite. It is man made yes but after a meteor stone. It shines a lot more then diamonds so trust me people ow over it more. You get a bigger stone for the price of a small diamond.

moissanite necklaces

I have an almost two karat diamond. I do love it. But I notice that when I am shopping, I see a lot of fakes (I know b/c they are on sale as such) that are just as cute and just as clear.

What I don't like is diamonds that are very Flawed. I had a friend who had an over two karat and a huge flaw. That would bother me more than the moissanite. Go for it. Maybe one day he will replace it with something else.

moissanite diamond rings

I have never seen a moissanite in person. I am a low maintenance tomboy type, so I'd think that I would prefer a 1/4 ct diamond. I wouldn't want a 2ct anything, even a 1ct.

I have seen 3/8ths (.36-.44) carat really good quality (E-G, VS2, premium-v. good cut) diamond engagement rings for under 500 on adiamor

I might even opt out and get a black diamond.

moissanite diamond rings

i have a fabulous ring from HSN that is a bridal set it looks like an antique although i got it on 2006 I have only seen 1 other with it and many are duplicating the style now, but for the 200 or so dollars that was spent on it I have gotten sooooooo many compliments on it and I wouldn't get a diamond ring now any way because we are not in a financial position to spend thousands on a ring however maybe one day I will get and upgrade, my heart will always be tied to this one. I actually picked this ring out myself and I am grateful for it and whether or not you give her a diamond or moissanite is not the stone but what the stone symbolizes commitment, and love. I hope this helps, and I hope you get what you want and most importantly I hope you have a happy healthy loving marriage if that is in your future.

Contradiction of terms. Moissanite and Engagement shouldn't ever be used in the same sentence.

There is nothing as hard wearing as diamonds, or keeping its colour, and elegance. But it is at a cost.
Much will depend upon the size of the stone, and the setting as to whether it will retain its good looks over a very long period. That which i have experienced has lasted well but they have been very small stones. The diamond though is 1 carat in 18crt white gold and is as good now as when i purchased it 30 years ago.
